Glass splashbacks are a popular feature in modern kitchen and bathroom designs, offering a sleek, contemporary look combined with practical benefits. Made from toughened glass, these splashbacks are not only visually appealing but also highly functional, providing protection for walls against splashes, spills, and heat. Their smooth, non-porous surface makes them extremely easy to clean, requiring only a quick wipe to maintain their shine and cleanliness. This makes our glazed splashbacks a hygienic option, especially in areas prone to moisture, such as behind sinks or cooktops.

The reflective nature of toughened splashbacks adds to their appeal by creating the illusion of more space and light. This is particularly beneficial in smaller kitchens or bathrooms, where the reflective surface can make the area feel brighter and more open. The sleek, uninterrupted surface also lends a minimalist and uncluttered aesthetic, which complements modern design trends.

One of the main advantages of glass kitchen splashbacks is their versatility in design. They come in a variety of colours, patterns, and finishes, allowing homeowners to customise their spaces to reflect their style. From bold, vibrant colours to subtle, neutral tones, there is a wide range of options to choose from. Glass splashbacks can even be printed with custom designs or images, giving homeowners the chance to create a truly unique focal point in their kitchen or bathroom.

In addition to aesthetics, splashbacks are known for their durability. Made from tempered glass, which is heat resistant and shatterproof, they can withstand the high temperatures commonly found in kitchens without cracking or warping. This makes them a more durable alternative to traditional materials like tiles or stainless steel. They also do not discolour over time, which can happen with some other materials exposed to heat and moisture.

Another practical benefit of glass splashbacks is their installation process. Unlike tiled splashbacks, which require grouting and can be time consuming to install, glass splashbacks are typically cut to size and installed as one solid piece. This reduces installation time and eliminates the need for grout, which can become discolored or mouldy over time. The seamless nature of glass splashbacks also means fewer joints or crevices for dirt and bacteria to accumulate, contributing to a cleaner environment.

FAQs

A glass splashback, though stylish, has some drawbacks. It can show smudges, fingerprints, and watermarks easily. This means that it requires frequent cleaning to maintain its glossy look. Glass, especially if it’s not toughened, is prone to scratches, chips, or cracks over time, particularly in high use areas. Hence, we always push on toughened splashbacks.

Additionally, glass splashbacks can be costly compared to other materials, both in initial cost and installation, which often requires professional handling. Reflections and glare from glass can be distracting, and custom glass replacements for repairs or colour matching can be challenging.

Lastly, clear glass may show imperfections in the wall behind it if not carefully prepared. Therefore, it always best to get a coloured backing to have a flawless presentation.

As we do not fit splashbacks, we are unable to provide costing of installation.  A kitchen fitter or bathroom installer should be able to provide an estimate.

The glass in splashbacks are toughened or tempered and are designed to handle high temperatures. Our tempered splashbacks are perfect for fitting behind a gas hob.
