FAQs
Depending on what has happened, we can close most windows to secure and replace any hardware parts that may need replacing. Expectedly, it could be your window hinges that has failed and is not allowing the sash section to shut. We usually have the common size hinges in our vans and are able to carry out a hinge replacement work straight away if time permits.
For a faulty window repair, we often have to replace the espagnolette locking mechanism, where the cam locks may have seized or a mechanical part broken inside. Again, we carry certain sizes and can sometimes fix your faulty window on the spot.
If your window is jammed in place and refuses to open, it is likely that the window handle has broken or your espagnolette locking mechanism has failed. There are several ways to open a jammed window sash. Reliably, our expert fitter would decide the method to be used upon inspection and may even go through various procedures if the window is problematic. In the end, the window can be opened in most cases and may even require removing the glass unit.
It is difficult to give a definite answer as each faulty window has to be checked on its own merits. In most cases, we have always repaired the window and not required a window replacement. However, in some rare cases where the window frame is in poor condition, we may recommend a new uPVC window, particularly if you have a timber frame that is showing signs of rot and decay.
